Our Team
Edward Pape
Experienced and knowledgeable in commercial, residential, municipal construction as well as infrastructure projects and programs and disaster response and recovery, Edward Pape began his career following his honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1988. Edward worked framing houses while attending the University of Texas at San Antonio and was then hired at Materials Marketing Corporation as an estimator, CAD designer and Project Manager producing architectural elements from carved stone for residential and commercial projects. Producing shop drawings for approval and templates for construction as well as cost estimating provided a solid basis for a career understanding construction materials, methods, and costs. In 1994 Edward was hired as an estimator for a mid-‐sized commercial construction company.
Projects focused on commercial demolition and interior finish out, and with their steadily increasing success the company soon expanded into small turn-‐key projects. In 1998, Edward formed his first company which grew into Sendero Partners Ltd. Sendero acted as a general contractor performing commercial and residential projects throughout Central and South Texas. Projects included retail outlets and business offices for many well-‐recognized local institutions. In 2005 Sendero Partners expanded in municipal work and they were chosen by the City of San Antonio as the General Contractor for San Antonio’s Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort.
In 2007 Edward sold his interest in Sendero Partners. He was then contracted by the San Antonio Housing Authority for assistance with the Mirasol Homes Resolution Program. The Mirasol Communities were comprised of 250 homes in 5 neighborhoods and all had suffered from numerous complaints regarding the performance of the structures. Initially running a repair program, Edward was instrumental in bringing forth information and the idea of deconstructing a house in order to expose the maximum amount of information which then saw the effort change from a repair program to a forensic approach that ultimately resulted in a successful resolution.
Edward was then recruited in 2009 by the HNTB Corporation to act as the Construction Program Manager for the State of Texas Hurricane Recovery Program. Edward’s duties were to assemble a team and organize and manage a program that would serve to facilitate and accelerate the proper execution of over 2200 infrastructure projects in communites affected by Hurricanes Ike and Dolly.
In January of 2012, Edward formed the Vaquero Group in order to return to private business. He left HNTB in December of that year and continues to work in program and project assistance roles for private firms and institutions on commercial and municipal projects. The Vaquero Group also performs selected construction projects and can provide assistance to individuals and commercial entities on a consultant basis.
Edward is a member of and Former Director of the San Antonio Hispanic Contractor’s Association where he also serves as Chairman of the Sporting Shoot and the Policy and Development Committees.
In his spare time Edward devotes his attention to his two daughters. Any surplus following that is spent flying, writing, and enjoying outdoor activities.
Charles Luna
I've dedicated over 20 years of my life to the construction industry, specializing primarily in residential projects and outdoor living solutions. My journey in construction began in the late 1990s when I found myself captivated by the process of creating and building. Alongside my passion for construction, I pursued higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering with a minor in Business from ITT Technical Institute. Throughout my career, I've been deeply involved in every aspect of the construction industry, from laying the foundation of my own business to overseeing the day-to-day operations of TR Outdoor Living. With a hands-on approach and an unwavering attention to detail, I've earned a reputation for delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional service to my clients.
My project portfolio is a testament to the breadth and depth of my expertise. From ground-up new constructions to intricate renovations, I've tackled a wide range of projects with skill and precision. Whether it's designing custom decks to enhance outdoor living spaces or installing luxurious outdoor kitchens for entertainment, each project reflects my commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. Beyond my professional endeavors, family, and community are central to my life. As a loving husband and father of three, I understand the importance of balancing work and family responsibilities. In my downtime, I cherish moments spent outdoors, indulging in activities like hunting, fishing, and clay shooting. These hobbies not only bring me joy and relaxation but also keep me grounded and connected to nature.
Volunteerism has always been a significant part of who I am. For over 15 years, I've been actively involved with the San Antonio Rodeo, dedicating my time and skills to support this beloved community event. Whether it's lending a helping hand during the rodeo or participating in fundraising efforts, I'm proud to contribute to the success of an event that brings joy and excitement to our community. As I reflect on my journey in the construction industry, I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had to learn, grow, and make a positive impact. With each project, I strive to exceed expectations and leave a lasting impression on my clients and community alike. My commitment to excellence, combined with my technical expertise and business acumen, positions me as a trusted partner for anyone looking to bring their outdoor living dreams to life.
